The Normandy Double Bowl Sink – Number Two Sink

After the first ceramic Belfast and Butler sinks came into being in the late 19th century, French farmhouse sinks followed suit. Setting up a factory in northern France, two brothers, Emile and Andre Porcher, used local clay to produce their ceramic sinks. Rough red Staffordshire clay was commonly used at Potteries, but they used a superior type of clay, allowing them to create a superior ceramic product. Some of the designs first created at the end of the 19th century are still in production today, proving that good design never goes out of fashion. The Porcher name continues today at its factory in the Loire region, and enjoys a reputation as one of the oldest and most highly respected names in fireclay sink manufacture.
To give it an authentic vintage look, the Normandy Double Bowl Sink has stamped on its side the manufacturer’s logo. Able to accommodate a 60mm basket strainer wastes, the farmhouse sink comes in a non-tarnish brass or Satin chrome finish. You can also choose to use a plug and chain, although you will have to drill into the worksurface to attach the chainstay.
Fireclay sinks are easy to maintain, but to do so requires you follow a few simple guidelines. Clean it daily with a non-abrasive cleaning agent to prevent common coffee and wine stains from building up.
